At Bloomberg, our products are fuelled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock – from around the world. In Global Data, we’re responsible for delivering this data, news and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately.

More than 320,000 business leaders rely on the real time data available on the Bloomberg Professional Service. Across 88 data sets, our Analysts are responsible for distilling intelligence and industry-specific insights for our clients - influencing investment decisions and moving markets daily. None of this would be possible without maintaining the highest standard of operational excellence and efficiency.

What’s the role?

You’ll be joining the EMEA Business Process Management (BPM) team which primarily focuses on Process Engineering, Workflow Development and Business Intelligence. By closely partnering with other teams in Global Data, the BPM team is responsible for understanding both the business and operational needs of Bloomberg’s internal and external clients. Your responsibilities will include identifying opportunities, proposing solutions and influencing priorities for our data business. Working in a team environment, you will help define the strategy and best-practices of our technical solutions with the goal of improving our end-to-end workflow orchestration, as well as expanding the reporting capabilities of our internal processes. You will be expected to account for regional business needs, with solutions that can be applied globally.

In your role, you will be primarily responsible for workflow development and business intelligence, but will be expected to be versatile and contribute to all BPM’s focus areas as well.

As a valued member of our team, we’ll trust you to:

  • Work with data management teams across the department to learn about their business, understand the challenges they face, and identify strategic opportunities to achieve our business goals.
  • Build upon an existing understanding of financial products and leverage familiarity with data management processes to develop innovative solutions to everyday business challenges.
  • Take a business analytical approach to workflow design: leverage business intelligence and process analysis/engineering to proactively identify areas for improvements in existing operations, and to drive the decision-making process.
  • Develop and deploy workflow and reporting solutions by leveraging products like JIRA and GIGWork.
  • Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot issues for the production workflows and business intelligence processes you are responsible for while providing necessary data governance.
  • Communicate effectively and report on the business impact of a project using both quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  • Foster the company culture of data driven decision making
  • Operate independently, taking ownership of requirements gathering, design, implementation, and timely delivery of solutions that add incremental business value.
  • Create and maintain roadmaps and oversee the entire life-cycle of a project, from backlog refinement and prioritization, to project execution and reporting.
  • Partner with other leaders in Technical Operations and throughout Global Data to establish priorities for our Technology and Analytics capabilities.

Successful applicants will likely possess most of these:

  • B.A./ B.Sc. in Business Analytics or related field of study and/or professional work experience in the area of process analysis and data management.
  • Strong proficiency working with tools like SQL and Python, with demonstrable examples of how these tools have been leveraged to drive analytical and data-driven decision making.
  • Experience in workflow management, workflow optimization and data processing.
  • Familiarity with the basic principles of data pipelining and workflow design.
  • Interest and experience in data analysis and data wrangling supported by pre-existing on-the-job experience and/or continued education.
  • Experience using QSEN (or similar Business Intelligence tools) for operational analysis purposes to support and/or drive decision making processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in explaining technical processes and solutions to business stakeholders and management.
  • Full spectrum of project management experience: from idea generation through to project delivery.
  • Proven ability to set a vision and plan for the long term, while working on immediate priorities.
  • A self-starter and analytical attitude, creative problem-solving skills, and experience with diverse data processes and systems.
  • Great team player attitude, focusing on building partnerships and delivering value for the department through effective collaboration and group facilitation.
  • Experience in mentoring and/or training individuals in your areas of expertise.
