The Team:

The Financial Technology and Data team within Bloomberg’s Legal & Compliance Department works closely with our business and sales partners to advise on, draft and negotiate contracts for our data and technology services worldwide. Our colleagues depend on us for our deep product and commercial contract knowledge in order to support them in closing the deal, while protecting our businesses from undue legal risk.

What’s the Role:

Structure, draft, review, analyze and negotiate a variety of commercial and license agreements, including data content, services, software, technology and intellectual property transactional agreements. Provide licensing, technology and commercial legal advice and counsel to internal clients. The person in this role will serve as an essential business partner in shaping business strategy, identifying business risks and defining company policies and procedures. Based in Bloomberg’s EMEA headquarters in London, the person in this role will work closely with other colleagues in London and the company’s New York headquarters.

You’ll need to have:

  • Qualification to practise as a solicitor with the Law Society of England and Wales
  • At least 3 years* of relevant law firm and/or in-house legal post-qualification experience
  • * Please note we use years of experience as a guide, but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.

  • Experience drafting and negotiating, and advising clients on, challenging and complex licensing transactions
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly to business and technology professionals
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and clients
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to provide concise and commercially-focused advice

We’d love to see:

  • Experience advising in the financial and/or technology sector
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of other disciplines, often across regions and time zones
  • Interest in identifying and using technology to improve efficiency
  • Strong project management skills
