Bloomberg Core Terminal Business provides our customers with an experience that delivers cross asset class coverage and best-in-class analytics and workflows that our clients have come to depend on across many of their most critical functions. As we look to continue delivering against the high expectations that our customers have we are constantly looking to expand our product offering by thinking holistically across all our products and services where we prioritize consistency of the user experience, improve discoverability, interoperability and make all horizontal services across the Terminal truly world class.

The ESG product team is responsible for coordinating ESG product development efforts across Bloomberg with the goal of improving the terminal experience related to ESG investment workflow and creating enterprise data and products that will result in direct revenue. This product group coordinates across the Bloomberg business and functional areas; including Bloomberg Intelligence, Bloomberg NEF, Engineering, Global Data, Enterprise Data, other Core Product Teams and Sales. The end products from this group effort will include improved data discoverability (in terminal), creation of proprietary data and scores, climate, on-boarding third party data, European taxonomy workflow, and ongoing support for the Gender Equality Index. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and support Bloomberg’s ESG scores and ESG data offering for the terminal and for our enterprise customers, in particular supporting the development of our current scores to incorporate faster datasets, as well as our impact scores.

We'll trust you to:

Define and communicate the strategy/vision:

  • Develop a business plan for Bloomberg’s ESG scores with clear success metrics
  • Regular and consistent communication to ensure strategic alignment across key team members
  • Stay ahead of the competitive ESG environment
  • Clear understanding of various user types and workflows in the governance space
  • Insight into the competitive landscape
  • Establish relationships across the market, with financial market practitioners, policy makers etc.

Execution of product:

  • Develop the Bloomberg ESG scores in conjunction with our research arms on how to help users draw insights from these products.
  • Responsible for setting priorities of work, making trade-offs across priorities and understanding constraints (technical and resource)
  • Provide data and engineering team with business context and strategy, managing deliverables, as well as run detailed refinement sessions
  • Review and refine strategy based on results vs initial success metrics

Collaboration and stakeholder management:

  • Identify and implement product development processes where/when appropriate, that encourage collaboration across key partners and individual contributors
  • Partner with Engineering and Data operations to ensure deliverables are well understood, and align with the overall business goals
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to promote our product to clients

You’ll need to have:

  • A strategic mind set and the ability to represent plans to senior management and across team’s
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and conceptual thinking aptitude
  • Experience building quantitative scores, ideally aligned to ESG Financial materiality but not exclusively and refining models to aggregate scores. 
  • A strong quantitative background with practical experience harnessing APIs and ideally with some experience with the python. 
  • Experience implementing a product or solution end to end, from vision to execution
  • Experience using the Bloomberg Terminal in the past
  • Knowledge of Buy Side workflow

We'd love to see

  • Proven ability to engage across functions and the ability to understand other team’s business goals to find mutually beneficial solutions
  • An understanding of the key players and developments within the ESG space
  • Experience using the Bloomberg Terminal in the past
  • CFA or MBA
