The Bloomberg Global Data team is looking for a highly motivated and driven Data Manager. You will manage the design, delivery and development of several Data Products. Leading a team consisting of Analysts including vendors and Team Leaders, the Data Manager will have strong people relationship management skills and technology skills to ensure the highest possible standards of delivery.
This position requires extensive communication across EMEA and around the world with Sales, Ancillary Product Groups, Analytics, News, Engineers & Business Managers. You will be expected to work closely with Bloomberg clients and lead the development of Data products and process re-engineering by applying technology, vendor management, and business planning.
The Team:
Bloomberg runs on data, and our Global Data department is responsible for acquiring it and supplying it to our clients. Teams work to collect, analyse, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal- the data which ultimately moves the financial markets.
We collaborate with Sales, News, and Research and Development, while staying in tune with our client needs, contributing to the development of the Data Management products and fuelling Bloomberg news stories with the data that we receive.
You will lead teams responsible for one or more of the following areas; Commodities, Corporate Finance, Derivatives, Equities, Economic Statistics, Fixed Income, FX, Funds or Global Data Analytics.
We'll trust you to:
- Be accountable for all aspects of managing, acquiring and processing of data sets
- Collaborate and lead projects with various Core Product teams on business plan implementation and idea generation
- Use technology to improve Global Data Workflow (timeliness and coverage), expand data coverage and gain efficiencies
- Demonstrate strategic thinking, planning, implementation and communication with counterparts and colleagues in Global Data across all asset classes
- Provide excellent customer service through client interaction via email, phone and visits
- Have experience with the evaluation of team performance and the performance of individual data analysts
- Align skills sets with employees and engaging them to develop their careers
- Communicate with Business Managers and R&D staff to develop the product
You need to have:
- Management and/or supervisory experience required
- Strong team-building and leadership skills
- Deep understanding of financial Markets
- Solid understanding of Data management, Technology applications and data set tools
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and capable of handling multiple projects
- Ability to meet deadlines, logically tackle problems and set priorities
- Commitment to enhancing and developing products
- Effective research, analysis and communication skills
- Knowledge in information technology or statistical analysis or computer programming (for example VBA, SQL, MATLAB, Python)
