Bloomberg's Communications/Government department is seeking a Government Affairs Representative to join the team to assist in the development and implementation of strategies as they pertain to legislative and regulatory issues affecting Bloomberg, with a particular emphasis on emerging markets.

We'll trust you to:

  • Research, analyse and make recommendations/draft strategic option memos/presentations/working papers on legislative and regulatory issues which may provide threats or opportunities to our business
  • Assess, engage and influence legislative and regulatory policy issues that could potentially impact Bloomberg
  • Draft strategic position papers, issue briefs, talking points, sample letters and correspondence on a variety of policy issues ranging from financial services to regulatory policy
  • Conduct discrete research projects on pending issues
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key officials across emerging market institutions, their staffs and related associations and organizations
  • Draft comment letters, consultation and position papers for regulatory agencies
  • Attend and prepare communication from relevant hearings or open regulatory meetings
  • Work closely with Bloomberg business and product divisions on commercial and strategic responses to evolving regulation and market structure

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Significant experience as regulatory analyst, international experience is a plus
  • Excellent organisational abilities and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Good interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a non-hierarchical, multi-lateral management, team-oriented work environment
  • The ability to collaborate and partner; building strong lasting relationships
  • The ability to balance immediate and long-term priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, strong negotiation and consensus building skills

We'd love to see:

  • Familiarity with financial markets and products is preferred, e.g. Fixed Income, FX, Commodities, and Equities, and FCA and EU regulatory developments
  • A desire to be part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced organisation
  • Legal degree preferred
