This team:

Bloomberg runs on data. Our team is responsible for supporting all datasets related to global market indices.

Whether it’s creating process efficiencies, interacting with clients or leveraging new technologies, our index analysts' skill sets are as multifaceted as our data product offering! We collaborate with our global colleagues to continuously provide a superior, time to market, high quality product to our clients.

We are a team with a strong project focus and analytical content, our processes include automating the acquisition and extraction of data derived from third party sources; developing strong knowledge of the wide range of analytical functions our clients apply to our datasets, and finding continuous innovative solutions to client's ongoing and evolving demands.

What you can expect from this opportunity?

We will welcome you into the Global Data Training Programme for two-weeks which will help you build the foundation for your entire career at Bloomberg. Joining the Global Data department means that you are a part of one of the world's leading sources of data; providing accurate, up-to-the-second insights for financial market professionals. You will enhance your product knowledge, learn about our clients and their needs and build relationships throughout the company. The training will teach you financial concepts, data and the functions of our state-of-the-art Bloomberg Terminal.

As your experience grows, we will expect you to have greater influence on Bloomberg's coverage of index data, whether that is through technical or market expertise, tackling projects or taking up a position of leadership.

We'll trust you to:

  • Use your project management skills to run large initiatives and build and maintain relationships both internally with different departments and externally with our third party index providers
  • Use your analytical abilities to improve the coverage and quality of the index database by on-boarding, maintaining and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the Equity and Fixed Income index data.
  • Take ownership of your initiatives and see them through to completion
  • Deliver excellent customer service to Bloomberg clients and internal stakeholders
  • Work closely with Bloomberg Engineering and our Product development teams to contribute to the future development and strategic direction of the product
  • Engage in initiatives to create process efficiencies

You need to have:

  • Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship building abilities
  • self-starter, entrepreneurial skills
  • Solid project management skills and prior experience managing stakeholders
  • Prior experience or strong knowledge and understanding of financial markets
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when working under pressure
  • Commitment and passion to enhancing and developing the product, and implementing strategic initiatives
  • Ability to meet deadlines, logically pursue problems and set priorities
  • Bachelor's degree (Business or Finance preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Advanced Excel skills

We'd love to see:

  • Knowledge in information technology and statistical analysis or computer programming (for example VBA, SQL, MATLAB, Python, Regex)
  • Prior experience or strong knowledge and understanding of financial markets, in particular fixed income
  • Business level fluency second European language
  • Prior experience or knowledge of Indices
