Bloomberg runs on data, and in the Global Data team we're responsible for acquiring it and providing it to our clients. We collect, analyse, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal- the facts and figures which ultimately move the financial markets. We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes- and all this while providing platinum customer support to our clients.

What’s the role?

Our team is responsible for supporting all datasets related to global market indices. Whether it’s creating process efficiencies, interacting with clients or leveraging new technologies, our index analysts' skill sets are as multifaceted as our data product offering.

You’ll be responsible for automating the acquisition and extraction of data derived from third party sources; developing a strong knowledge of the wide range of analytical functions our clients apply to our datasets, and finding continuous creative solutions to client's ongoing and evolving demands. You’ll also collaborate regularly with your global colleagues to continuously provide a superior, time to market, high quality product to our clients. As your experience grows, we will expect you to have greater influence on Bloomberg's coverage of index data, whether that is through technical or market expertise, tackling projects or taking up a position of leadership.

We'll trust you to:

• Use your Indices subject matter expertise to collaborate with Bloomberg Engineering and our Product development teams and contribute to the future development and strategic direction of the product
• Use your project management skills to run large initiatives and build and maintain relationships both internally with different departments and externally with our third party index providers
• Use your analytical abilities to improve the coverage and quality of the index database by on-boarding, maintaining and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of the Equity and Fixed Income index data.
• Take ownership of your initiatives and see them through to completion
• Deliver excellent customer service to Bloomberg clients and internal stakeholders
• Engage in initiatives to create process efficiencies

You need to have:

• Strong knowledge or previous experience working with Index data
• Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
• Strong interpersonal and client relationship building abilities- self-starter, entrepreneurial skills
• Proven project management skills and prior experience managing stakeholders- Attention to detail and accuracy when working under pressure
• Dedication and passion to enhancing and developing the product, and implementing strategic initiatives
• Ability to meet deadlines, logically pursue problems and set priorities
• Bachelor's degree (Business or Finance preferred) or equivalent work experience
• Advanced Excel skills

We'd love to see:

• Knowledge in information technology and statistical analysis or computer programming (for example VBA, SQL, MATLAB, Python, Regex)
• Prior experience or strong knowledge and understanding of financial markets, in particular fixed income
• Business level fluency second European language
