The Global Corporate Technology Team is responsible for crafting, deploying, and supporting Bloomberg’s internal IT systems. This includes our global corporate network plus all of the hardware, software and enterprise applications used by nearly 21,000 employees in more than 170 state of the art offices around the world. We focus on enterprise solutions, productivity tools, and IT systems integration which helps move all of Bloomberg's businesses forward.

The Role:

As a Mac Desktop Engineer you will be part of an agile team of subject matter experts focused on innovative design and implementation of all things Mac at Bloomberg.  You will promote the best possible employee experience and the highest levels of productivity as you evaluate, recommend, design and engineer products using the industry’s leading technologies.  Activities you can expect to be involved in include:

  • Leading various product enhancements and initiatives to maintain and improve the user experience on Mac at Bloomberg
  • Designing and engineering macOS systems to Bloomberg standards for optimal performance and stability
  • Evaluating Beta versions of macOS for compatibility with Bloomberg requirements
  • Executing Proof of Concept (PoC) tests for both Apple and 3rd party software
  • Developing, engineering, and evolving Mac computer policies, configurations, and workflows
  • Diagnosing advanced issues encountered when integrating macOS with third party hardware and software, and performing root cause analyses
  • Working closely with both Apple and 3rd party vendors to improve their products, fix bugs, and submit feature requests
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver Mac solutions that are reliable, secure, and can operate at scale
  • Ongoing analysis of current processes and procedures in order to maintain them or make recommendations for improvement
  • Providing Mac specific level IV escalation support for Mac Operations Engineering team members
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of Mac related training through collaboration and mentorship
  • Creating comprehensive documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration guides, and knowledge base articles

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience supporting macOS in a global enterprise or large school environment
  • Outstanding product & industry knowledge of macOS
  • Proficiency in administering JAMF Pro for computer management
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting
  • Functional understanding of LDAP, Active Directory, and Single Sign-on implementations
  • Good understanding of enterprise networking fundamentals including Load Balancers, Proxy Servers, Firewalls, 802.1x, etc.
  • Creative thinking and strong self-motivated problem solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to research and drive complex technical solutions consisting of multiple technologies
  • Experience leading projects as a technologist
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for interacting with both technical and non-technical audiences

We’d love to see:

  • JAMF 300 (JAMF Certified Administrator), JAMF 400 (JAMF Certified Expert)
  • Experience scripting with AppleScript, Python, and/or Swift
  • Familiarity with REST API
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Hands on experience with GitHub
  • Knowledge of security fundamentals
  • Experience with enterprise logging and telemetry
  • Good fundamentals of Change Management and Release Management
  • Experience with Agile (mainly Scrum)
