Our Team:

The Digital Media and Subscriptions Analytics team is trusted with the reporting, analysis, and forecasting of key traffic and audience trends for Bloomberg consumer digital properties including; Bloomberg.com, consumer mobile applications, and over-the-top video products. We partner and work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Senior Management, Editorial, Audience Development, and Ad Operations teams to communicate insights and data. Our colleagues look to us to explore innovative ways of growing our audience and increasing engagement.
As a Media Analytics Associate, you'll play a critical role in conducting analyses on the performance of our Digital and Subscriptions business units to find new opportunities for revenue upside or cost reduction. With a heavy emphasis on big data analytics you'll have the opportunity to combine your analytics and quantitative expertise to distill complex data sets to actionable insights. Cross-functional teams across Bloomberg Media will count on you as a trusted partner ensuring that data and analyses are accurate, insightful, and impactful.

We'll trust you to:

  • Distill and translate large data sets into actionable insights and recommendations for the business that are clear, concrete and rational, across websites, video and apps
  • Share insights and key takeaways from core dashboards with cross-functional teams to help inform areas of focus and opportunity
  • Work daily with team leads from Product, Engineering and Marketing to identify and test hypotheses for operational improvements to the business
  • Develop dashboard and automated reporting or performance metrics to present to senior leadership and decision-makers
  • Regularly present findings to the business and management using a wide variety of charting tools and presentation formats
  • Data cleaning, summary, modelling and visualization using code in SQL, R and Python
  • Design, extract, transform, load data flows and database maintenance
  • Work with Audience Development and Product teams to identify opportunities and measure the impact of growth initiatives
  • Oversee the development and production of regular and ad hoc audience reports, with an eye toward automation
  • Work with editorial and business partners to understand priorities in order to continually optimize back-end tracking and reporting capabilities
  • Collaborate with multiple partners and prioritize ad hoc requests against moving deadlines and priorities

You'll need to have:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Finance/Economics or Engineering
  • Experience working in digital analytics across cross-functional teams
  • An understanding of web analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or Parse.ly
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience with programming languages, preferably R and/or Python
  • Deep understanding of formulas and keyboard shortcuts in Microsoft Excel
  • Conceptual and analytical reasoning skills
  • A sense of curiosity, attention to detail and comfort with ambiguity
  • Confidence presenting to leaders and to large groups
