You’re the perfect person to work in our Content Extraction team, to focus on scraping real-time financial data and delivering them to the world's most sophisticated financial community, with the aim of expanding Bloomberg's brand as the leader in the financial news market.

Our team

We identify text patterns in company press releases and build short scripts that automatically extract key financial data within milliseconds of their publication, using a proprietary software. The data is used to generate automated headlines to run on the Bloomberg Professional Service. You will also work closely with Business and R&D teams in order to identify process improvement and product expansion opportunities.

You will take part in the Global Data Training Programme which will help you build the foundation for your entire career at Bloomberg. Joining the Global Data department means that you are a part of one of the world's leading sources of data; providing accurate, up-to-the-second insights for financial market professionals. You will enhance your financial knowledge, learn about our clients and their needs and build relationships throughout the company. The training will teach you financial concepts, data and the functions of our state-of-the-art Bloomberg Terminal.

We’ll trust you to:

• Use proprietary software to identify text patterns in company press releases and build short scripts that automatically extract key financial data.
• Communicate with News and Business teams to ensure proper prioritization of companies within the analyst's portfolio.
• Identify process improvement opportunities with the aim of ensuring the highest level of extracted data quality and expand the product coverage.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Business, or related technical discipline.
• Knowledge of financial statements and company earnings reports.
• Working knowledge of Python.

We’d love to see:

• Fluency in German, French or any other European language.
• Experience working with web crawling, database management and SQL.
• Solid understanding of data science principles
• Experience with Digital Media or Data Journalism and sound news judgment.
