The Communication Channels Applications team is looking for a high-performing front end engineer with a passion for building tools that connect financial professionals and shape the way markets communicate. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows initiative, and can help us cement our place as the premier communication platform in the financial world.

The group covers two main products, core to Bloomberg:

Instant Bloomberg (IB) is Bloomberg's instant messaging system, which is used by the financial community for time-sensitive communication including exchanging quotes, trade ideas, news and research. With billions of posts delivered daily IB is a critical step in most market players’ workflows.

Message (MSG) powers collaboration and communication as a long-form communication tool, a real-time price dissemination tool, and a tightly integrated workflow facilitator. With over 2 million hits a day, MSG is the most run function on the Bloomberg Terminal.

We have a broad user base unlike any other company, including asset managers, brokers, traders, financial analysts, and desks across all asset classes. Our users rely on our products because of their real-time performance, substantial scale, ironclad security and tight integration with the Bloomberg Terminal applications.

Looking forward, we aim to connect our users even closer with chatbots and curated communities, foster communication and transparency across the markets using NLP to structure content, and continue to expand and streamline workflows with modern features and embedded financial tools.

You’ll need to have:

• Extensive experience in full-stack application development using either Python, C++ or Typescript.
• Passion for learning new technologies and programming languages.
• Enthusiasm towards users’ needs, code quality, and desire to build stable systems.
• Desire to collaborate with stakeholders and other engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions.

We’d love to see

• Experience with either real-time applications, instant messaging clients, email clients or collaboration tools.
• Experience with NoSql DBs.
