Senior Linux Contractor - Feeds
London
Posted Feb 19, 2018 - Requisition No. 65347
Bloomberg is the world’s premier market data supplier. We take data from all of the world’s important financial centres and deliver it to our customers. This requires writing bespoke applications – parsers – that deal with the protocols used by the financial centres. Our parsers process around 60 billion business messages every day.
The Feeds team in London is creating a new team to port a large number of C++ parsers from Solaris to Linux. This will involve creating test suites, analysing source code for potential migration problem areas, performing the required code changes, as well as deploying the new code and communicating with affected stakeholders. After successfully completing this project, the team's task will switch to upgrading parser code to the latest framework standards.
You’ll need to have:
- Strong knowledge of C++
- Experience on both Linux and UNIX systems
- An understanding of endianness problems
- An appetite for writing solid system tests
- Ability to quickly understand new code bases
- A background in successful project delivery
We’d love to see:
- Experience porting C++ applications to other architectures or writing multi-platform C++ code
- Previous usage of git, GitHub
- Knowledge of market data systems
- Experience with test-driven development
