We are the engineering team behind the world’s largest over-the-counter (OTC) electronic trading (ET) platform encompassing Fixed Income securities, Derivatives and Equities. Our platform provides end-to-end solutions across the trading life cycle so traders can connect more successfully to the global trading markets — all in one place.

The Trading Enablements team provides the systems and critical interfaces for determining eligibility to trade, buy-side and sell-side compliance and client on-boarding. The Enablements services used by the Request For Quote, Ticketing and Trade workflows receive in excess of 200 million hits a day. We are a key part of the Electronic Trading workflow at Bloomberg and pride ourselves on delivering a resilient and stable platform to meet that demand.

We collaborate closely with other teams in the larger Electronic Trading department and work daily with our business counterparts to continuously improve the On-boarding and Enablements workflows for clients. We are committed to a process of continual improvement within the code-base and working to enhance the engineering experience as part of delivering change.

How we work:

  • Our server side components are developed using C++ and Python on Linux. 
  • Our User interfaces are written in JavaScript/Typescript.
  • We use Docker for our local development and testing processes.
  • We are utilising a mix of an in-house SQL database and PostgresSQL along with Redis caches for our data storage.
  • We use Splunk, Humio and Grafana for log collection, dashboards and alarming.
  • We put emphasis on doing things right, so you’ll be using industry best practices for testing, automation, and CI/CD (CMake, Google Tests, Pytest, Jenkins, Git etc.).
  • We are responsible for the full development process – from gathering requirements to design, development, testing, production releases and maintenance

You’ll need to have:

  • Expertise in C++ and/or Python along with familiarity of Javascript/TypeScript.
  • An interest in problem solving, and a desire to build software solutions for sophisticated business problems with experience getting involved in the full software development lifecycle.
  • Experience leading projects or working with multiple stakeholders to deliver business value.
  • Experience applying good software engineering practices while delivering production quality solutions to clients.
  • Good communication skills to work with other teams and explain technical problems to non-technical stakeholders.

We’d love to see:

  • Expertise in profiling and improving performance.
  • Experience working with a distributed system and an understanding of its unique Experience with high volume, high availability distributed systems.
