Working at BNEF sometimes feels chaotic; we need teams that are both dynamic and structured to generate the unique perspectives our clients really value. Our teams are diverse, creative, focused, and fun!

BNEF is seeking a talented, highly motivated analyst to join BNEF’s Sustainable Agriculture team in our London office. The analyst will research, analyze, write and comment on critical policy issues relating to the twin challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss. The Sustainable Agriculture team helps our clients to understand how the agricultural system can decarbonize and become more environmentally sustainable, including the policies, technologies, markets, business models and strategies of the major players. Our research is widely read by our clients who are key decision makers in industry, government and finance.

We'll trust you to:

  • Monitor and become an expert on government policies and regulations seeking to decarbonize and reduce the environmental footprint of the agricultural system
  • Write research pieces analyzing the types of policy in place and their effectiveness, by building a network of research contacts and using public and proprietary data sources
  • Effectively communicate findings by presenting data in creative and accessible ways, authoring and publishing research reports and datasets, presenting at conferences, and interacting directly with our clients and prospective clients
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team and your colleagues around the world in our carbon markets, climate policy, technology and innovation, hydrogen and corporate sustainability teams
  • Build and maintain datasets to further our clients’ understanding of the impact of net-zero and nature-positive targets on the agricultural sector
  • Act as a self-starter, have a high work-rate and have the ability to work on parallel tasks while maintaining attention to detail

What's the role:

  • Together with other team members, gather information, conduct analysis and present findings on the transition to more sustainable agriculture in written reports and presentations
  • Understand and analyze the policies as well as the markets, technologies, consumer trends and corporate strategies that are driving change in the agricultural system
  • Assess the business opportunity for the production of more sustainable food and fiber
  • Collaborate with a high degree of professionalism with colleagues and clients from different cultures and countries

  • Contribute to company-wide policy-related research efforts, including the annual G-20 Policy Scoreboard, the online BNEF Policy Library, Climatescope (http://www.global-climatescope.org) and Net Zero Pathfinders (https://www.bloomberg.com/netzeropathfinders/)
  • Relate our work to BNEF’s wider coverage and forecasts in energy, transport, industry and commodities
  • Develop a network of contacts in the industry and promote/represent BNEF across a wide variety of senior stakeholders
  • Present your research at conferences and clearly communicate it to clients and prospects

You'll need to have:

  • Experience in making, monitoring or analyzing government policies and regulations
  • A basic understanding of food, farming and agricultural systems
  • An interest in efforts to mitigate climate change, reduce biodiversity loss and solve other environmental problems
  • Demonstrated experience producing content that is clearly written, accurate and concise
  • Ability to interact with high-value stakeholders such as clients through presentations or other communication
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration and teamwork and a willingness to contribute to projects that by definition involve multiple authors or project partners

  • Rigorous attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work
