MARS (Multi Asset Risk System) is a fast-paced, product focused group in Bloomberg. Over the past few years, we have grown continuously and established a variety of enterprise risk solutions tailored to different types of financial market players. Our system manages billions of calculations on a daily basis to provide essential analytics and reports for our clients.

We are looking for a driven individual to lead a team of software engineers building our risk products. You will be leveraging your technical and domain knowledge to create industry leading solutions, grow our people to the next level, and create synergies among multiple groups in the organization.

• Lead a team in an area that offers challenges in both technical and financial domains

• Take full ownership of a large subsystem of MARS and shape its future vision
• Quickly get up to speed with financial risk business domain
• Ensure high code quality, low maintenance cost, and reliability of the system
• Be a bridge between engineering and product teams, facilitate communication and ensure that the correct problems are being solved

You'll need to have:

• Strong software architecture expertise
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Experience with full software development life cycle
• Good understanding of current trends in software industry
• Ability to solve problems in the financial domain
• Passion for software engineering
• Pragmatic approach to problem solving
• A self-starter’s attitude
• Ample operational skills and ability to improve processes
• Great communication skills
• Experience coordinating cross-team initiatives
• Ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
• Strong people leadership skills and ability to empower team members

We'd also love to see:

• Knowledge of modern languages (C++ 17, Python3) and experience with different programming paradigms
• Understanding of financial risk analytics like Greeks, VaR, XVA; and regulatory compliances like FRTB, SIMM.….
• Good understanding of agile / scrum
• Knowledge of open source technologies, especially ones useful in calculation heavy systems (big data)
• Drive to build communities and support D&I initiatives
