We are looking for an experienced, tenacious and committed editor to help drive our agenda-setting political coverage in the U.K.
British politics is one of the busiest and most compelling stories anywhere in the world.
Boris Johnson's government is still wrestling with the fallout from Brexit and a pandemic that has left the country with the worst death toll -- and the best vaccine record -- in Europe. Ahead lie battles over the future of Scotland, tensions with the European Union, and the fraught question of how to put the country's public finances back on track.
As a senior member of a busy and high profile team you will be expected to make key decisions quickly and liaise with other teams and news managers in the London newsroom, the region and beyond.
The successful candidate will work with reporters based in Westminster to break news and shape our longer features and investigations. You will collaborate with teams across the newsroom to infuse our government coverage with the impact on the economy, markets and business.
You'll help set the agenda, coordinating with multiple stakeholders on a highly competitive beat and freeing up reporters to bring in scoops. You will have outstanding news judgement and first class writing skills. Experience covering U.K. politics would be a major advantage.

- React quickly to unexpected stories and help break news
- Ensure stories and headlines are tightly written, well edited and delivered quickly
- Collaborate with other teams to shape enterprise coverage and draw out bigger themes
- Work across our platforms, including QuickTake, newsletters, radio and television
- Make logistical decisions for reporting assignments, calendar planning and rosters, and represent the team on news and story calls
