The Role:

Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) is seeking a talented, highly-motivated intern to join our research team in New York for a 10 week summer internship, starting in May 2020. The successful candidate will undertake research and analysis relating to the transition towards a low-carbon economy, working alongside our experts in energy, transport and industry.

We will trust you to:

• Conduct research on topics such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, energy storage, distributed energy and power markets
• Gather and organize data sets
• Publish written research on topics covered
• Speak with industry figures and BNEF clients to gather information and opinions

At a minimum we require you to:

• Are currently enrolled in a university with a graduation date of May 2020 or May 2021
• Are legally authorized to work full time in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
• Are available to work the whole duration of 10 weeks from May 29th – August 7th

We'll need you to:

• Demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for the renewable energy industry
• Have excellent critical thinking and an ability to filter through the noise
• Have good communication skills: writing (for research projects) and speaking (for presentations). Written and spoken English must be excellent
• Act as a self-starter, have a high work-rate and have the ability to work on parallel tasks with attention to detail
• Derive information from public sources and in-person / telephone interviews
• Have working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office applications

We would love you to have:

• An understanding of energy, policy, transport and/or environmental markets
• A background in natural sciences, engineering, economics, or finance
• Additional language skills
