What is Desktop Build?

The Desktop Build Group works closely with Bloomberg's Sales and Product departments to increase clients' dependency on our terminal by creating desktop and enterprise level solutions. Historically, our offerings revolved around our Excel APIs, but now the team is leaning towards a more powerful product: a Python interactive application sharing platform combining a programmatic language with Bloomberg data. On top of building customized solutions for our clients, DBG influences the course of the product suite and meets with major market players in finance to gather insights on ways to enhance our offering. Projects the team works on are varied, and are designed to capture market share from our competitors. This is accomplished by migrating client workflows to Bloomberg and by building bespoke solutions to fill specific product gaps in the Terminal.
 
What you will be doing?

Big data is one of the hottest topics in Finance. In this role you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your technical skills on our innovative tool: the Python Quant platform, relying on the Bloomberg cloud to allow powerful data analysis. Candidates with SQL and Java skills will gain an overview of our worldwide activity (closed and upcoming deals) from a management perspective, when enhancing our Sales reporting dashboard. On a day to day basis, you will be part of a supportive and dynamic team with an entrepreneurial mind, assessing product performances against business needs to drive future developments.

What we need:

• Currently Working towards: Degree in Finance / Data Science/ Computer Science or Quantitative subject with a strong demonstrable interest in Finance and Computer Science
• Knowledge of Python with a drive to enhance it. Skills in Excel, VBA or SQL would be appreciated
• Ability to demonstrate autonomy and ownership, while evolving in a team environment
• Good verbal, presentation, and written communication skills as you work across departments
• A strong analytical mind and a thirst for making impact

You will need to be:

• Currently enrolled in a university, Graduating between Dec 2021 – May 2022
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship now or in the future
• Available to work for the duration of 10 weeks from June 4th – August 13th 2021
