2017 Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summer Internship (BNEF) – New York
We are seeking a talented, highly-motivated intern to join our BNEF team to focus on the North American energy sector. You're someone with a real passion for the U.S power market, solar, wind, demand response, or energy finance. You naturally form original opinions, and you have an exceptional ability to communicate these to your audience. Your quantitative skills are strong, and you love to delve into complex subjects and build your own network in the industry. Teamwork is important to you, and you are excited by the prospect of working with colleagues and clients from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Our team:

You will be based in our New York office, working as part of our energy sector team at Bloomberg New Energy Finance - the world's leading independent provider of analysis, tools, data and research to decision makers leading change in the energy system. With the unique depth and breadth of our comprehensive BNEF platform, we help clients stay on top of developments across the energy spectrum.

We will trust you to:

  • Publish written research on topics as above
  • Do quantitive analysis using and/or building Excel-based models and datasets. -This could include forecasting supply-demand fundamentlas; investigating renewable project economics; and/or conducting policy and regulatory research
  • Engage with clients and industry figures regularly

We’ll need you to:

  • Demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm for the transport and energy sectors
  • Have excellent critical thinking and strong quantitative skills
  • Exceptional communication skills: writing (for research reports, in English) and speaking (for presentations at conferences, to clients, or to the media).
  • Act as a self-starter, have a high work-rate and have the ability to work on parallel tasks with attention to detail
  • Derive information from public sources and in-person / telephone interviews
  • Have working knowledge of Excel and other MS Office applications

We would love you to have:

  • An understanding of energy, transport and/or environmental markets
  • A background in natural sciences, engineering, economics, or finance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL

At a minimum, we require that you:

  • Are legally authorize to work full-time in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship in the future
  • Can work full-time from Friday, June 2nd, 2017 through Friday, September 1st, 2017
  • Will receive your Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • between May 2017 and May 2018 and/or Master's degree
