Bloomberg’s CTO Office is the future-looking technical and product arm of Bloomberg L.P. We envision, design, and prototype the next generation infrastructure, hardware, and applications for the Bloomberg Terminal. Our projects include machine learning-powered products, cloud computing infrastructure and strategy, open source stewardship, natural language processing, and more. The Opportunity

Today, Bloomberg participates in over 50 industry conferences annually that support ecosystem health as well as employees in their growth, development and exposure at relevant subject matter conferences. The Conference & Sponsorship Manager is responsible for promoting Bloomberg’s reputation as an innovative technology company, thought leader, and employer of choice through these events in addition to discovering new event partnership opportunities. 

This individual will be responsible for working with CTO Office leaders and marketing to assess business needs, priorities and budget and manage Bloomberg’s overarching investment and presence at these events and conferences through budget oversight, conference partner outreach, contract negotiation, and brand development for the events, whether live, virtual or hybrid. Additionally, the individual should have interest and experience in communicating the ROI of these initiatives, and documenting and evolving processes, partnerships or presence to improve our metrics. 

To do so, the Conference & Sponsorship Manager should be comfortable collaborating closely with cross-functional-team members including the Open Source Office, Marketing, Events (for the events execution itself), Communications, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Recruitment, Corporate Philanthropy and more. 

We’ll trust you to:

  • Oversee the global execution for and elevate the ROI measurement strategy for 50+ annual technical conference sponsorships and events that support critical technology ecosystems and build Bloomberg’s brand as an innovative technology company
  • Liaise with external partners for outreach, negotiations, contract management, as well as leading kickoffs and debriefs
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across our Engineering, Open Source, Recruitment, and Marketing teams to assess and execute on event goals
  • Collaborate with internal Events and Communications teams to manage conference sponsorship deliverables (promotional materials, ads, social media, experiential) and report on results
  • Document and manage marketing and event partnership operational processes and propose opportunities for enhancements
  • Be detail-oriented, self-organized, and proactive in coordinating and leading conference execution  activities from every angle to achieve maximum results
  • Be an advocate for Bloomberg as an authentic contributor and leader in the technology communities critical to our products and services

You’ll need to have:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, operations, events, agency or related role
  • Experience with event vendor partnership negotiation and contract management
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set and an ability to adapt and learn about new market trends and new audience opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task and prioritize both in strategic asks as well as day-to-day execution
  • Impeccable integrity
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with all levels and departments
  • Strong leadership and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in financial services, fintech and AI/ machine learning; a solid understanding of top firms in tech and their points of difference

Salary Range: 65 - 85 USD Hourly

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
