Our Team:

Bloomberg's Data Distribution infrastructure is the largest in the world, providing low-latency market-data and news across the globe via Open API (www.openbloomberg.com/open-api). We use commodity software/hardware platforms to develop high performance C++ code and multithreading to achieve peak rates and optimize bandwidth and latency.

The development team is looking for an experienced team lead to drive strategic and technical direction for the group. You will lead a team of 10-15 engineers who will design, build and deliver new products and scalable, high-performance components for both desktop customers and enterprise-level applications.

We'll trust you to:

• Implement a robust SDLC process for the team
• Write formal documents for all stages of product development, such as requirements, architecture and design specifications and QA and acceptance criteria
• Be responsible for successful product delivery
• Provide coaching for team members and take ownership of people development

You'll need to have:

• A Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent expertise)
• 10+ years of experience with C/C++, UNIX and Windows
• 3+ years of experience leading a team of software developers and engineers, being both a technical lead and a manager
• Experience architecting highly distributed high-performance systems
• Excellent understanding of data structures and algorithms and the object-oriented methodology
• Excellent knowledge of multi-threaded and network programming, including very low-level OS and CPU elements; good knowledge of lock-free algorithms; knowledge of low-latency optimization techniques
• Expert-level knowledge of UNIX internals, especially Linux
• Solid understanding of network protocols and experience with network architecture and hardware
• Good software engineering habits
• Experience with data in the financial word (e.g., market data)
• Familiarity with Java
• Excellent problem-solving abilities
