Bloomberg’s developers are responsible for delivering technology to demanding customers - fast. Bloomberg’s Developer Experience SDLC team is responsible for getting them there.

From build integration through coding best practices to deployment automation, we’re constantly searching for new and better ways not only to make developers’ jobs easier, but to help them write better code. With a huge range of different projects and technologies, meeting the needs of our developers is a challenge full of opportunities to make your mark and—dare we say it—earn the appreciation of some really smart people.

You’ll need to have:

• A passion for source – compilers, code analysis, source control, build systems and packaging. Whether it’s debugging a binary from first principles, untangling a complicated refactoring knot, or implementing a turn-key solution for static analysis, you care about code
• 3+ years of coding experience – We do a lot in Perl and Python, but we dabble in many technologies. Ie. gcc, Clang, Make, Chef, dpkg, git, OpenStack and Docker are all part of our portfolio. Whatever your expertise, though, you know how to craft well-written, testable software
• An instinct for design – you don’t just want to build cool tools, you want to build them right and you know how to make them scale. And you can explain your designs, too

We’d love to see:

• Experience with a range of interesting technologies you can talk passionately about, and an urge to tinker
• The ability to think in others’ shoes — if you build it, will they come? And does it solve their problem?
• Healthy exposure to UNIX fundamentals and network administration. You may write code that’s abstracted from the underlying OS, but you still know how it works
