Our Team:

The Digital Analytics team is trusted with the reporting, analysis, and generation of critical insights of key traffic and audience trends for Bloomberg consumer digital properties, including Bloomberg.com, consumer mobile applications, and over-the-top video products. We partner and work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Senior Management, Editorial, Audience Development, and Ad Operations teams to communicate insights and data. Our colleagues look to us to explore innovative ways of growing our audience and increasing engagement.

As a Director of Digital Analytics & Insights, you'll play a key role in analyzing traffic patterns, consumption trends, and audience behavior, with the goal of growing our audience and engagement. You'll have the opportunity to combine your deep digital analytics expertise with business acumen to distill complex data sets to actionable insights. Cross-functional teams across Bloomberg Digital will count on you as a trusted partner and leader for accurate, insightful, and impactful analysis.

We'll trust you to:

  • Distill and translate large data sets into actionable insights and recommendations for the business that are clear, concrete and rational, across websites, video and apps.
  • Share insights and key takeaways from data exploration with cross-functional teams to influence areas of opportunity around audience acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Partner with Product, Audience Development, and Editorial teams to define measures of success and analyze the impact of growth initiatives, both onsite and through distributed networks and platforms.
  • Lead and own a monthly presentation with a large group of team leaders on current traffic patterns, deep dive analyses, and insights.
  • Train and support colleagues to promote use of self-service analytics tools across the business and the newsroom.
  • Own ad hoc market opportunity and benchmarking analysis, partnering with business and strategy team.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to design and measure A/B and multivariate tests.
  • Oversee the development and production of regular and ad hoc audience reports, with an eye toward automation.
  • Periodically attend conferences and speak on panels about current initiatives and trends.

You need to have:

  • 5+ years working in digital analytics across cross-functional teams.
  • Highly analytical thinker who finds structure, logic, and insight in complex business problems with limited supervision.
  • Deep understanding of web, mobile, video analytics metrics, concepts and data collection process.
  • Experience with digital analytics reporting tools and platforms, especially Google Analytics and Big Query.
  • Ability to communicate the most salient points from a complex data analysis in a clear, precise, and action-oriented manner.
  • Strong sense of curiosity, with a desire to learn.
  • Comfortable with uncertainty, and able to make decisions and ask the right questions in the context of ambiguity.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly productive with limited direct oversight and direction day-to-day.
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills and experience with visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Google Data Studio).

We'd love to see:

  • Newsroom / publisher experience.
  • Experience with SQL and other programming languages (e.g. R, Python).
  • Familiarity with social reporting tools (e.g. SimplyMeasured, NewsWhip) and A/B testing platforms (e.g. Optimizely) is a plus.
