Bloomberg LP has built a significant media business spanning digital, magazine, radio, television, and live event platforms across the globe. Bloomberg Media is growing its global footprint and reach, during a historic time in the media industry, through new innovations from QuickTake to New Economy. Bloomberg Video is seeking an Equipment Manager to act as the central point of contact for all things gear-related. This role will developing and maintain an efficient, seamless process to meet all the gear needs for the video team. The Equipment Manager is a new role that will be responsible for supporting the productions of the Bloomberg Originals and QuickTake teams. The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of all things production, is obsessed with learning new tools and technologies, is highly organized and loves a good troubleshooting session. Reporting to the Production Manager, this person will collaborate with the entire production team, and will balance the management of an efficient, organized system with flexibility as circumstances demand.
We’ll trust you to:
Work with production leaders to build and maintain gear management systems using internal and third-party software solutions.
Continuously work with the production team to improve systems, ensuring processes are as frictionless as possible.
Make sure that gear database is up-to-date and accurate at all times
Ensure that equipment storage room is organized and efficient at all times
Manage day-to-day production related operations, acting as key point of contact for all things gear and studio related
Perform basic repairs on damaged gear and coordinate repairs with third parties as needed
Work with production leaders to keep equipment up to date and request new equipment as required
Coordinate with facilities teams before equipment is delivered
Create and regularly maintain a system for sunsetting outdated gear
Periodically travel to other Bloomberg locations to establish and maintain gear management systems, both physical spaces and software/technical systems
Regularly connect and coordinate with overseas teams to ensure they are able to use all systems without a dedicated gear manager on site
Assist global teams with carnets and other gear-related logistical processes as needed
Ensure all equipment is fully operational both before and after all productions
Train new staff on proper equipment use, put together documentation on as-needed basis
Serve as point of contact for technical issues during production
Pack and unpack equipment for offsite productions, as well as occasionally operate camera
Handle incoming requests in a timely manner
You’ll need to have:
The ability to be in the office 5 days/week
5+ years of production experience and 2+ years of gear management experience (or comparable technical experience), ideally in a media environment
Extensive knowledge of prior and current Sony, Canon, and Blackmagic cameras and operating systems.
Extensive experience troubleshooting technical and/or mechanical issues with cameras, gimbals, mics, and other production equipment
Extensive experience with gear management systems (ex. Cheqroom)
Experience supporting many different types of content - including documentary, studio, live and live-to-tape
Familiar with post production workflows, especially Adobe Creative Cloud
Able to remain calm and clearly communicate in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating confidence during stressful situations
Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to handle many moving parts and prioritize accordingly
Experience supporting live studio shoots both in person and remotely
Excellent time management skills and high regard for deadlines
Interest in learning new tools and technology in order to continuously improve workflows

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.We offer one of the most comprehensive and generous benefits plans available and offer a range of total rewards that may include merit increases, incentive compensation [Exempt roles only], paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k) +match, life insurance, and various wellness programs, among others. Salary Range: 70,000 - 80,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
