We collect, analyze, process, and publish the data that is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal- the facts and figures which ultimately move the financial markets. We apply problem-solving skills to identify creative workflow efficiencies and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes- and all this while providing platinum customer support to our clients.

The Team:

Company Financials is responsible for the data management of company and broker disclosed fundamentals data through the disclosure life cycle for a company, from broker estimates, consensus building, analyst recommendations, to the company reporting its first financials through the IPO process all the way to the quarterly reporting process from earnings to preliminary results to audited full financial results. The teams are organized with a focus on industries, and cover data ranging from the primary financial statements to product and geographic business segments, including the most critical revenue drivers. The group possesses a deep understanding of market disclosure patterns to source unique, value-added content while leveraging technology to acquire and process available information in a timely fashion. This aggregated, cleansed, and normalized data fuels a variety of key functions and enterprise products, supports News, and enables our clients to make well-informed investment decisions. The flagship {MODL} application is a tangible illustration of the power of the fundamentals data and the earnings estimates data coming together in a continuous time series to help our clients analyze companies. More than 320,000 business leaders rely on the real time financial information available on the Bloomberg Professional Service. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock quickly and accurately – from around the world. 

The Role:

The Financial Data Risk and Control Manager will lead the development of solutions across all our CoFi Data Products in order to define and prioritize efforts to improve and maintain data quality.  Leveraging subject matter and domain experts in our Global Company Financials Teams, you will be responsible for influencing and designing approaches to building data quality solutions based on our individual use cases. The Financial Data Risk and Control Manager will guide efforts to implement quality practices across various dimensions such as accuracy, timeliness and completeness, throughout our data acquisition, extraction, routing, validation, verification, publish, and storage processes.  Your thought leadership will result in robust data integration, quality, and reporting systems for the Company Financials Data products teams to leverage.

Working with engineers, Data Analysts, and our Data Governance Team, the Financial Data Risk and Control Manager will develop a business plan of Data Quality Analysis, Strategy, and Implementation, that will allow us to ensure high quality across our Broker and Company Disclosed datasets feeding our core terminal analytics, API and Enterprise offerings. 
 
We’ll trust you to:

  • Gain a thorough and complete understanding of the technology stack used in the lifecycle of a data point, and associated risks at each stage
  • Develop and evolve a Quality Strategy, and plan for Implementation for Company Financials Data with our Data Governance Team
  • Partner with Data, Engineering and our Data Governance team to ensure consistent principles are leveraged, tools are fit for purpose, and results will be measurable
  • Manage efficient prioritization of Engineering and Data efforts within our Project Management framework
  • Work with Data and Business to define targets and develop processes to measure impact on quality and success of efforts
  • Ensure sustainability of systems and efficient regular reporting of all relevant Quality dimensions for all our data stakeholders

You’ll need to have:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with an insatiable desire to solve problems in innovative ways
  • Strong project management experience and time management skills, with the ability to take multiple projects to completion within strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience conducting process analysis and implementing solutions for efficiency
  • 5+ years experience in Data Governance technologies, process risk management, building process control solutions, or equivalent experience
  • Deep knowledge of financial markets, data management / governance, and quality assurance practices
  • Strong familiarity with business rules management and/or statistical methods for governing data quality
  • Strong data reporting and visualization experience with the ability to tell a story and propose solutions
  • 5 yrs+ experience in people management; successfully leading diverse teams
  • Relationship building skills, and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary partners at various levels
  • Technical proficiency and a comfort level discussing technical concepts and experience evaluating trade-offs in design with Engineering
  •  
    We’d love to see:

  • Knowledge of how financials data is used by different financial market players (especially Portfolio Managers and Analysts)
  • Experience using a Scrum Agile process
  • Varied project management experience and/or certifications (CAPM, PMP and/or CSM)
  • Knowledge in information technology, statistical analysis and mathematics and/or computer programming (ie VBA, SQL, MATLAB, Python, Regex) 
  • A degree/masters/PhD in a STEM subject or Economics/Finance
