Bloomberg Media is looking for a Head of Design Research to support core and new digital product initiatives. This individual will play a leadership role in instilling and driving a user-centered design process across Bloomberg’s Media digital products. This role will report directly to the Global Head of Mobile Products.

Once you are here you will:

Lead our design research processes and work on new product development

  • Collaborate with a team of design researchers, designers, prototypers, and a multidisciplinary set of stakeholders through the research process.
  • Lead the research synthesis process, and generate insights that can inspire and inform innovative design which could be in the form of products, services, strategies, processes, ventures or experiences.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder needs, interests, priorities and expectations effectively and sensitively.

Push our boundaries and anchor our product development strategies

  • Leverage the diverse skill sets of our colleagues, from editorial, design, product management, and engineering to deliver great insights and thought leadership.
  • Develop points of view through cross-product synthesis to inspire colleagues, consumers and the market, deepening our position as thought leaders in media, and adding value to the discourse of tackling systemic challenges through a human-centered approach.
  • Experience in interpreting insights into potential design and innovation opportunities and solutions.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven record of using research to answer business strategy questions and needs.
  • Mastery of research techniques such as in-depth interview, observation, immersion, usability testing, documentation and insight generation.
  • Experience in interpreting insights into potential design and innovation opportunities and solutions.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills, and a passion for creative expression: it can be anything from writing to photography to music to drawing.|
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in areas including design research, market research, consumer insight or user experience in either a corporate, start-up, or consultancy environment.
