Leading the Bloomberg Intelligence Thematic Strategy team, you will develop Thematic Strategy research and Theme Baskets. As Thematic Strategist, you will be part of a fast-growing global research team, responsible for providing and managing research coverage of themes. We will expect you to self-generate creative content on themes and partner with individual analysts to generate research ideas that cross global product groups. You will lead author thematic research and co-author research with other equity strategists and analysts globally. You will also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of portfolios designed to invest in themes. 
 
We’ll trust you to: 

  •  Develop and manage the thematic research and theme basket product for Bloomberg Intelligence. Identify, write research on, and perform due diligence on themes, including those from index clients and BI teams, and collaborate with internal partners to design portfolios to invest in those themes.
  •  Collaborate across BI Research Analysts, BNEF, BI Marketing, and Core Product to manage, expand, integrate and promote thematic research and baskets in the Bloomberg terminal. Work with data and core business groups to help develop and enhance thematic product and functionality across the terminal.
  •  Manage basket creation and maintenance process. This includes development of and content addressing methodology, performance attribution, fundamentals, and macro-drivers of themes, sizing the market, determining supply chain, measuring longevity of the theme, building a universe of companies, and evaluating differentiators versus other products in the market. Guide team to incorporate statistical analysis and back test to measure performance and score effectiveness of basket constituents in capturing the theme. Manage quarterly performance and composition data on BI BSKT and develop comprehensive basket research primers.
  •  Leverage knowledge of financial data for companies and industries to estimate thematic revenue exposure and analyze events affecting basket constituents to produce practical insights in real time.
  •  Execute client engagement strategies to promote the product with the BI marketing and Core Index teams.
  •  
    You’ll need to have: 
  •  Knowledge of financial markets and investments (7+ years), including experience publishing thematic research and/or structuring thematic baskets and ETFs (theme research process, company evaluation process, story formation of basket, understanding of constituent selection and weighting process, benchmarking)
  •  Experience in project management and cross-team collaboration (organizing timelines, communication across multiple moving parts, defining milestones for rolling out enhancements or new baskets).
  •  Strong organizational skills and proven capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  •  Excellent communication skills: data analysis and visualization creation, and strong interest in interacting with Bloomberg customers. Adept at articulating thematic strategy concepts to senior leadership, investment professionals, and investors.
  •  Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; Intermediate proficiency in Python, with interest in accelerating
  •  Graduated with a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in Finance
  •  Understanding of advanced concepts, practices and procedures of finance/accounting with solid experience interpreting financial statements and performing quantitative financial analysis
