Index Product Manager
Bloomberg is a leading provider of financial benchmarks and custom index services. The continued growth of passive investment and upcoming benchmark regulations presents new opportunities for talent in our index product management group in New York.
You'll be joining a highly motivated and successful index team that sits within our Core Product Group. Focused on the development and calculation of indices, you’ll have a lead role in developing new indices and implementing custom index requests. You’ll be comfortable working with large data sets and have great interpersonal skills. You’ll have a deep knowledge of the institutional asset management industry, understand index trends, regulation and understand buy-side and sell-side index needs. You will have acquired this knowledge whilst working in index structuring at a bank or perhaps a data provider. You’ll be expected to influence product vision and then execute on that vision, including product design and exploring strategic partnerships.
We’ll trust you to:
- Contribute meaningfully to the analysis, evaluation and product vision of Bloomberg’s index offering
- Work with clients to implement custom index requests and co-develop custom index solutions
- Interpret complex index methodologies, build financial models to back-test and develop strategy indices
- Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to implement and automate index calculations
- Communicate the product vision within Bloomberg and build consensus among senior leadership team
You’ll need to have:
- A strong academic background in one of analytical and technical degrees, for example: Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Statistics, Economics
- Hands on product experience, preferably index structuring background in systematic trading strategies
- Significant software product development experience
- A working knowledge of financial markets, securities and derivatives in all major liquid asset classes
- A broad understanding of the index industry including key products, business dynamics, and critical connectivity partners across market sub-segments
- Strong marketing skills with an opinion on product positioning and product adoption strategies
- Ability to develop thorough, integrated, commercially sound business plans
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building enthusiastic support for new business ideas
- Good understanding of regulations on financial indices and day-to-day index governance determinations
