Bloomberg is a leading provider of financial benchmarks and custom index services and seeks new talent for our index product management group in New York.
You'll be joining a highly motivated and successful index team that sits within our Core Product Group. Focused on the development and calculation of new indices, you’ll have a lead role in developing new indices and implementing custom index requests. You’ll have substantial index and software development skills. You’ll have a deep knowledge of the institutional asset management industry, understand index trends and understand buy-side and sell-side index needs. You’ll be expected to influence product vision and design.
We’ll trust you to:
- Contribute meaningfully to the analysis, evaluation and product vision of Bloomberg’s index offering
- Work with clients to implement custom index requests and co-develop custom index solutions
- Interpret complex index methodologies
- Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to implement and automate index calculations
- Communicate the product vision within Bloomberg and build consensus among senior leadership team
You’ll need to have:
- A strong academic background in one of analytical and technical degrees, for example: Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Statistics, Economics
- A broad understanding of the index industry including key products, business dynamics, and critical connectivity partners across market sub-segments
- A working knowledge of financial markets, securities and derivatives in all major asset classes
- Significant software product development experience
- Strong marketing skills with an opinion on product positioning and product adoption strategies
- Ability to develop thorough, integrated, commercially sound business plans
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building enthusiastic support for new ideas
