Intellectual Property/Commercial Transactions Counsel

Bloomberg is seeking an intellectual property/commercial transactions attorney to join its in-house legal department.  The Intellectual Property/Commercial Transactions Counsel will be responsible for the review, drafting and negotiation of a wide-range of commercial contracts including agreements relating to technology transactions, software licensing, procurement, services, outsourcing, reseller and manufacturing agreements.
The Intellectual Property/Commercial Transactions Counsel will advise clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters and commercial legal advice, with an emphasis on software development, deployment, licensing (on-premise and cloud), and compliance; technology-related consultancy and professional services engagements, and open source software compliance. The Intellectual Property/Commercial Transactions Counsel will work with Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Vendor Risk, Facilities and R&D teams to provide support on commercial and technology-related transactions and intellectual property-related issues.

You’ll need to have:

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ related professional legal experience
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and closing commercial contracts, software licenses, SaaS and other technology-related services agreements
  • Efficiently manage a large volume and variety of general matters, negotiate numerous standard and complex corporate and commercial agreements, all in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and admitted to practice before a State Bar (preferably NY)
  • Superior academic credentials
  • Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related field is preferred
  • Ability and desire to contribute humbly, in a collaborative fashion, with an emphasis on team values, goals and objectives
  • Ability and desire to communicate effectively with engineers, software developers, product development, R&D, procurement and other teams, including strong software technology and development knowledge or experience
  • Superior writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills
