The Production Support team in Enterprise Solutions (ES) is seeking an experienced market data support and operations support engineer to join a team in a fast paced, exciting environment focused on delivering the highest level of client satisfaction. Concentrating on products such as the Bloomberg real-time market data feeds, our messaging and distribution platform and our entitlements system this role is best suited to candidates with experience of either the Bloomberg real-time product suite or other third party market data feed and technology platform offerings.

You will have a technical background, with the ability to assist clients in a wide variety of areas such as performance and capacity, data behavior, and network architecture while building relationships with other teams across the firm and the Enterprise department.

We will trust you to:

  • Take ownership of production issues end-to-end to a timely resolution.
  • Aim for continuous improvement in work efficiency by promoting automation and driving improvement across the troubleshooting toolkit.
  • Improve health and availability of our systems through alerting, monitoring, capacity management, instrumenting, and reporting.
  • Work closely with market data technical contacts at client firms to help resolve & prevent technical issues that may impact the client side Bloomberg Enterprise Real-Time infrastructure & services within their production systems
  • Organize escalation of issues to internal Bloomberg groups such as Network Operations, Global Data, and Systems Development.
  • Understand and spearhead additional methods to triage or solve problems affecting the B-PIPE, Server API, Data License and other real-time products.
  • Partner with sales and account management to build and strengthen client relationships.
  • Contribute ideas for product development, client notifications, and overall process improvement.
  • Be keen to learn and become proficient with new products as they are launched.

You need to have:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of technical experience supporting a distributed market data stack or supporting in a trading environment.
  • Highly Proficient in scripting languages using Shell, Perl and Python.
  • Strong UNIX skills with ability to investigate technical issues in a distributed environment. Ability to analyze/parse log files effectively and programmatically.
  • Comfort level with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor when handling complex and time-sensitive issues.
  • Thorough knowledge of the network stack such as routers, switches, firewall and LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Troubleshooting Web-Services related issues. Should have thorough understanding of WSDL, Client/Server Certificates etc.
  • Comfortable working in a ticket system for tracking progress, communication and adhering to SLAs.
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • A teamwork attitude whilst equally confident in making decisions independently.

It would be great if you also had:

  • Series 7/63 or related financial services certifications.
  • Experience of industry standard Market Data Real-Time Enterprise Technologies, such as RMDS, TREP, WOMBAT, SR-LABS, etc.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies to drive improved monitoring and automation.
  • Experience with database querying languages such as SQL, NoSQL or similar.
