To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong knowledge of data modeling techniques and a blend of technical development and product management experience.

As a Product Development Manager, you are responsible for formulating and delivering end-to-end technology solutions in line with strategic business objectives. You will have an intimate knowledge of how data solutions will be implemented to provide maximum impact across our business units. We’re looking for analytical individuals who can innovate and deliver in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

You will work with engineers who will be designing and creating a new data platform that will enrich the data with a new universal data model and allow clients to perform analytics across different domains of data.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Drive our team’s projects, as our engineers work to design, create, and manage large and varied datasets, both financial and non-financial, using a wide range of analytical tools, methods, and platforms.
• Spearhead ventures that will work to solve large scale data ingestion challenges that carry across multiple divisions within our Global Data department.
• Champion plans aimed to transform Bloomberg's data platform alongside a host of diverse and talented engineers and data scientists.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business needs; build consensus and strategies to deliver on those needs.
• Effectively communicate progress and success to stakeholders in a compelling, creative, and accessible way.
• Leverage your technical leadership to blaze a trail for future workers to follow in your footsteps as we scale.
• Get your hands dirty filling in gaps to get our products across the finish line.

What you’ll need:

• 2- 5 years of technical product development experience, with a passion for building new technology.
• Extensive knowledge of software and systems architecture; with a particular focus on data modeling.
• Ability to discuss deep technical concepts, evaluate tradeoffs and devise innovative solutions with engineers.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations.
• Experience leading cross-organizational teams and ability to work closely with engineers to deliver on aggressive schedules.

We’d love to see:

• Experience with mapping business needs to the right mix of ad-hoc and reusable solutions.
• Working knowledge of Python, SQL, and SOLR.
• Sound understanding of financial markets and how data from exchanges powers the front, middle and back office operations.
