We are the foundation of Bloomberg's premier reputation and client experience. We build the technology that allows Bloomberg representatives to answer client questions in an unparalleled fashion. Leveraging client intelligence gained from years of incoming questions, our tools are able to react in real-time to incoming client requests. Our group supports the Bloomberg Analytics desk – or HELP HELP service – which enables our 300,000+ clients to connect in real-time and get their questions answered accurately and efficiently.

We are looking for someone with experience in designing and implementing a scalable framework. This framework will allow various teams in Engineering to be able to "plug and play" into our system. You will come up with the design, present it to others, and then play a key role in the implementation.

We'll trust you to:

  • Interact with our clients and product managers to understand specific business requirements
  • Design and develop a flexible, scalable, and customizable unified customer service communication systems platform
  • Deploy the system, integrating with the ticketing and communication mediums, instant messaging, and voice systems
  • Shape the product vision, technology roadmap, and influence the strategy for the team

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience architecting, designing, and rolling out distributed real-time systems
  • Experience working on highly scalable, decoupled event-driven systems
  • 3+ years of experience developing production systems in an object-oriented language (C++ preferred)
  • Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills
  • The ability to propose technical design alternatives and discuss the trade-offs of using certain technologies
  • Familiarity with design patterns and different programming paradigm like OOPS, event-driven programming, and SOA

We’d love to see:

  • Knowledge of relational databases like MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL
  • Knowledge of open source technologies like REDIS, RabbitMQ, and Python
  • Familiarity with Spark and Cassandra
  • Familiarity with concepts and usage of Sharding, application partitioning
