In the financial news space, seconds, and even milliseconds are an eternity. Our mission is to build the tools used by Bloomberg News to be the fastest, most influential news agency in the world. This gets particularly complicated when we're dealing with federal government disclosures like job numbers, inflation rates and consumer spending trends. Due to the sensitivity and impact of this information, it is released using a media lock-up procedure.

During a media lock-up, accredited journalists, including our very own Bloomberg reporters,
receive advance access to information in a "lock-up room" that has no access to the outside world (no Internet or cell service) to assist with the accuracy and timely reporting on matters disclosed. Once the press embargo is lifted, wire services are reconnected to the network by a central switch allowing journalists to share the intel.

As a member of our news lock-up engineering team, you'll build tools that enable our journalists to break market-moving news.

We'll trust you to:

• Build UI extensions to Word and Excel (a plugin for the ribbon) that encode and send

journalistic content straight to the news wire once the embargo ends


• Own the product end to end - you will be involved in all stages of the software development
lifecycle including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, rollout and enhancements with a focus on performance and workflow tuning

• Work with journalists and technicians all over the world to ensure we are prepared for
media lock-ups

You'll need to have:

• 3+ years of C++ and C# development experience in a Windows environment
• 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft tools such as Visual Studio

We'd love to see:

• C++ backend Linux experience
