Senior C++ Engineer: SamayDB (Time Series Database) Team
New York, NY
Posted May 2, 2018 - Requisition No. 66849
Samay means time in Sanskrit.
The SamayDB team at Bloomberg develops a high performance time-series database that is uniquely designed and built to be flexible and fast, while still being able to support massive datasets. We provide data storage and retrieval options for high-frequency/high-volume applications handling petabytes of data, across hundreds of millions of instruments from well over 5000 publishers.
Our Storage engine ingests over 80 billion events per day, and our Query engine handles over 30 billion queries daily. We are evolving our system into a data-as-a-service platform to meet the ever-increasing volume, velocity, variety of market data and the computational demands on the data.
When you join our team, you will be working on problems such as data compression, data discoverability, data replication, load balancing, seamless capacity scaling, and more! If you are interested in building the next generation distributed and parallel storage/compute platform for time series market data, join us!
You need to have:
- 3+ years of experience developing multithreaded C++ code
- A strong understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms
- Experience working with time series databases (TSDB) and/or distributed NoSQL storage systems such as Cassandra, HBase, Accumulo, MongoDB
We’d love to see:
- Experience building large scale distributed systems
If this sounds like you, apply! It’s not every day you have the opportunity to design and build a Data-as-a-Service product for the world’s financial market data.
