The Internal Communications and Analytics team is looking for a consultant to use his or her breadth of technical knowledge to build reliable, scalable systems. The systems that we build enable Bloomberg employees to keep track of their work, and more importantly to be notified of any issues affecting software systems they might own. These systems ensure easy and transparent communication between our engineers as well as other departments. These systems also have an extremely high SLA since they are used in the automation pipeline to notify users about any potential outages.

You'll need to have:

• 2+ years of experience programming in C or C++
• A passion for design, problem solving, and hands-on development
• Demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, systems, and applications programming
• Good communication skills

We'd love to see:

• Knowledge of JavaScript and SQL Databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
• Knowledge of Python, especially for server-side scripting
• Experience working with REDIS
• Experience shipping high-profile user-facing products, working with large code bases, and engineering features for security, scalability, and high availability
• Knowledge of multithreading programming
• An understanding of the design, implementation, and deployment of high performance, large-scale applications in a distributed environment
• An interest in the latest technologies, industry practices, research, and trends
