Bloomberg manages one of the world's largest private data network to help bring news and market data securely to clients all over the globe. Our team is responsible for managing and maintaining this critical client connectivity to Bloomberg. We call ourselves the Playlist Infrastructure Team.

Our mission? To ensure clients connect to the closest service point with minimal latency for the best possible experience. Working closely with network engineers, architects and developers, Operations Engineers are key to achieving this mission and are responsible for monitoring connectivity, triaging issues, mitigating risks and prescribing solutions. With hundreds of thousands of financial professionals relying on our products to manage their portfolios, execute their trades, and analyze the markets, we're looking to grow our team. We’ll trust you to

• Investigate, triage, and troubleshoot production problems as they occur
• Develop and maintain tools used in investigating production problems
• Monitor proactively & assist in addressing potential issues ahead of time
• Measure current capacity, predict future capacity needs and make suggestions accordingly
• Create and maintain operations documentation to educate all stake holders
• Focus on automation: this includes automating deployment and configuration management, quality (including functional

and capacity testing), and reaction to problems


• Mitigate new software roll out risks with proper testing, planning, documentation & stakeholder communication

You’ll need to have

• Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
• 2+ years experience with relational database development using SQL
• 2+ Experience with python & UNIX shell scripting
• 2+ years experience with C/C++
• Experience with UI development
• Experience working in Agile SDLC
• Familiarity with Git
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk
• Familiarity with cloud computing
• BA, BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or related technology field
