The RTC Web team is responsible for providing real-time communication solutions for the Bloomberg Professional Service. We specialize in developing web applications for voice and video collaboration. We are currently building a cross-platform videoconference application to extend the capabilities of the Instant Bloomberg messenger platform. This application leverages the Jitsi open source project at its core.

We are seeking driven software engineers with experience in web development, who want to own the product and who can thrive in a team environment.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Develop proficiency with WebRTC and related real-time communication technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in developing full-stack applications for the web while adhering to best practices.
  • Take ownership of projects and their life cycle, stewarding them from conception to shipping.
  • Collaborate effectively across product, UX, and engineering stakeholders to deliver concrete results.
  • Contribute to Jitsi open source projects.

You'll need to have:

  • 4+ years working with an object-oriented programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, etc.).
  • A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent   work experience.
  • An understanding of Computer Science fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms.
  • 3+ years of experience with JavaScript (ES6+) or TypeScript in the browser and Node.js
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and browser APIs.
  • Proficiency with frameworks like React, Redux.
  • Strong understanding of asynchronous design patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills.

We’d love to see experience:

  • Leveraging WebRTC APIs.
  • Building Progressive Web Apps.
  • Building Node.js native modules.
  • Building browser extensions.
  • Packaging web applications via Electron, etc.
  • Configuring web build toolchains.
  • Proficiency with HTTP, TLS, Nginx, and security.
  • Developing with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Leveraging GitOps and 12 Factor App guidelines.
  • Deploying to AWS in professional capacity.
  • Building highly available, scalable, distributed systems.
  • Contributing to open source projects.

Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
