Senior Software Engineer - Research Collaboration Platforms
New York, NY
Posted Oct 20, 2022 - Requisition No. 110557
Our team was formed in early 2019 to focus on merging nontraditional Bloomberg technologies into the Bloomberg stack. The team works with content contributed from external sources to render, annotate, and provide collaboration capabilities using primarily web technologies.
We develop cross-platform solutions to both client facing and internal infrastructure problems. Our most used product is a `Document Viewer` web component built on the Vue.js web stack which allows our clients to annotate (highlight, draw, and comment) on top of documents in real-time with each other. Our goal by the end of 2023 is to release this component on mobile platforms as well. Our team also owns the `Bloomberg Terminal` browser extension allowing our clients to annotate and save any website to their Bloomberg notes. The extension is built utilizing our ever-expanding API, which allows both individual users and backend services to manipulate notes, research, and custom tags.
The team places high importance on developing reusable technologies and frameworks using the right tools for the task at hand. The nature of the problems we tackle does not often fit the traditional Bloomberg stack. Our team spends significant time on research and prototyping in open-source technologies.
