Bloomberg Media empowers global business leaders with breaking news, expert opinion and proprietary data distributed on every platform, across every time zone. Our team is helping Bloomberg define the future of media. You will join a small, user-centered design research team dedicated to exploring new ways to deliver meaningful experiences to our audience.

Our four week timeboxed projects start with a high level question and progress, through a series of activities including research and tests, to clear findings and recommendations to business. We pair these recommendations with one or more prototypes that demonstrate our findings and illuminate the feasibility of bringing a solution to market. We might be working on an augmented reality project one week, a connected devices project the following week, and it’s important our team is comfortable switching from domain to domain on the fly.

This is where you come in. You will be responsible for assessing the feasibility of various technical solutions and bringing some of them to life through prototypes.

We’ll trust you to:

• Participate in week-long research sprints
• Observe user testing sessions and intercepts
• Join collaborators from throughout the company in facilitated discovery activities
• Identify opportunities to use technology to meet unmet needs
• Evaluate the feasibility of building particular solutions
• Deliver multiple possible solutions in the absence of perfect information

You’ll need to have:

• BS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Experience working as a full stack developer
• An understanding of the importance of user experience
• The ability to collaborate closely with a small team and within tight timeframes

Nice to have:

• Native mobile development experience on iOS
• Applied ML/NLP experience
• Experience with Python and/or Java
• An eye for design and detail
