Our Global Data - Data Science & Modeling team is looking for an energetic software developer who is interested and excited about building core data processing and distribution mechanisms for advanced data analytics products. You will be critical to the execution of the team's work, utilizing and building Bloomberg data facilities. In addition, you will be designing and creating a new data platform that will enrich the data with a new universal data model and allow clients perform analytics across different domains of data (e.g. combining pharmaceutical data and equity data to create fresh, new perspectives on the markets).
You will need to be very agile, engineering minded, proud to be an engineer, and willing to jump into new, unfamiliar technologies to solve problems. Note that this role is not for someone who's looking to transition into a full data scientist role!
We’ll trust you to:
- Create full-stack data analytics products
- Build data science infrastructure to be shared by all GD data science work
- Work with various product, global data, and engineering teams to build a new data platform that will serve many downstream applications and provide clients
- Learn and become an expert in Big Data infrastructure (both for storage and computation)
- Become a leader in Big Data technologies
You need to have:
- A strong computer science background (Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience)
- 1-3 years of professional experience programming in Python, Java, and/or C++
- A self-motivated and self-directing attitude towards difficult and challenging problems
- A desire to pursue the best technologies and solving problems with logic and reason
- A willingness to take charge in creating and enforcing operation guidelines
We’d love to see:
- Experience with Big Data technologies (including, but not limited to, Solr, ElasticSearch, HDFS, HBase, Spark)
- Experience with full-stack software development
- Familiarity with machine learning, statistical models, and natural language processing
