Bloomberg runs on data, and in Global Data we're responsible for supplying it. We collect, analyze, process, and publish the data that is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal- the facts and figures which ultimately move the financial markets. We apply problem-solving skills to identify creative workflow efficiencies and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products, and processes- and all this while providing platinum customer support to our clients.
The Team:
The Third Party Custom Index Team in Data is responsible for managing our Custom Basket product which primarily serves Equity Delta One desks at our largest clients as well as serving our major Exchanges. As a result, the group maintains relationships with market participants and ensures that our data management processes meet the demands of our clients. This data fuels our Index terminal functions around pricing, membership weighting and portfolio analytics as well as our Enterprise data product offerings.
The Role:
The Third Party Custom Index Team is looking for a market savvy and client oriented Team Leader to drive the development of our growing Custom Baskets product. You will partner with Product, our Content Acquisition and Business Management team as well as Engineering to meet our clients needs in this growing market. As team leader, you’ll coordinate with our global management team and the Index dataset’s diverse stakeholders, set and drive strategic priorities, and coach your team members to excel in their roles. Your role will be key in driving our people, processes and dataset as we strive to mature into a multi-asset product.
We’ll trust you to:

  • Effectively manage the data product and set tangible team and product goals
  • Recruit, develop and retain talent to create a high-performing team
  • Collaborate extensively with internal stakeholders (primarily Core Product, Content Acquisition & Business Management, and Engineering) to drive the adoption and integration of technology to improve the workflow of the group and data product
  • Have meaningful client interactions to build trust, understand their needs, and deepen relationships
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and latest developments in the financial market
  • Represent your product by visiting clients and/or engaging in industry events to promote our data products
  • Continuously review processes and internal feedback to identify opportunities to adapt new technology and/or processes to become more efficient and effective
    You’ll need to have:
  • A bachelor's degree, preferably including studies in finance, economics, data science, or information systems
  • Track record of driving strategies, managing complex projects, and leadership ability in change management or influencing others
  • A customer focused mindset
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven ability to use technology to develop innovative data products and processes
  • Demonstrated leadership, training, and mentoring abilities, either through prior formal or informal experience
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of demonstrated decision-making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a frequently changing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate with others
  • This role can be based out of NYC or Princeton, NJ.
  • The willingness to travel between our New York and Princeton office is required.

We’d love to see:

  • A Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, MBA, or related field preferred/CFA
  • Market knowledge in the index space: Methodology, fundamental calculations, contemporary trends in indexing, &c.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining production workflows (e.g., ETL, predictive models)
  • Varied project management experience and/or certifications (CAPM, PMP and/or CSM)
  • Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau or QlikSense
