The Role:

Bloomberg is seeking an experienced Payroll Team Lead to join our New York Payroll Department. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our US and Canada Payroll team with focus on accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing. You'll have strong knowledge of payroll administration, accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings and deductions in compliance in with all applicable federal and state tax withholding and filing obligations. The position requires a highly organized, detailed payroll professional that has the ability to handle multiple projects while producing accurate and timely results. You will ensure payroll is compliant with company policies and processes, monitor controls and develops process improvements while overseeing payroll projects and deliverables to ensure goals are met. This role reports to the Americas Head of Payroll.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for managing the payroll preparation and production of our semi-monthly payrolls for 11,000+ multistate for US and Canada
  • Ensure compliance with federal and multi-state taxation and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Maintain data integrity for Payroll and Time and Attendance Systems
  • Coordination of quarterly and annual payroll processing and compliance
  • Partner with our vendor (ADP) to process tax payments along with quarterly & annual reporting
  • Manage and develop a payroll team
  • Review and audit data processed by team members to ensure segregation of duties and four eye principles compliance
  • Develop and administer efficient payroll policies and operating procedures
  • Ensure departmental metrics and high accuracy rates are met
  • Analyze ticketing system statistics to ensure high customer service response time
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal and external business partners
  • Recommending system and process improvements, providing analytical and statistical reports
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking when providing solutions
  • Lead on external audits

What We’re Looking For:

  • A minimum of 5 years relative payroll experience, CPP preferred
  • Experience managing, building, and developing teams
  • Bachelor or Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll practices, auditing and procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience using Ceridian Dayforce, Workday, PeopleSoft or similar HCM
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of multi-state taxation
  • Visa taxation knowledge
  • Ability to research and resolve complex inquiries, seek solutions and follow through on complex tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Maintain and build a high level of customer service with Bloomberg employees
  • Ability to work closely within a global team
  • Project management experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency (vlookup and pivot tables)
  • Systems implementation experience preferred
