An exciting opportunity exists for a UNIX/Linux technician in a world-class operations center. You will work in a highly creative, dynamic and innovative team environment. The job requires you to work closely with various groups including system administration, application development and network design. Our group designs, implements and supports procedures on different hardware platforms that make up the Bloomberg Computer environment. You will also be involved in special projects such as designing, testing and implementing processes that the operations staff handles. These are shift-based opportunities which support a 24x7x365 environment, and mostly night and weekend coverage.

You'll need to have:

• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux (Sun Solaris and AIX) environments
• The flexibility to work varying coverage hours including weekends and nights
• Flexibility on location and the ability to work in Middlesex County, NJ, Lower Manhattan, NY or Orangeburg, NY depending on business need
• Excellent written, verbal communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• The ability to work independently and in a team environment under deadlines
• The ability to pick up new technologies quickly

We'd love to see:

• 2-3+ years of experience working in computer operations
• An understanding of data centers, data communications and utilities
• Experience providing and automating day-to-day systems administration duties; Shell (Bourne), Perl or Python scripting abilities
• Networking and Internetworking experience as an operator, engineer or tools integrator
• Experience administering and integrating network management systems
