Bloomberg runs on data and technology. In Global Data, we’re responsible for onboarding, analyzing, applying and supplying it to help answer our clients’ questions. We manage data and workflow processes on the Bloomberg Terminal to help our clients solve problems such as how to measure the risk of monsoons in Vietnam, so clients looking to invest in agriculture there can make more informed decisions; or how to measure the real wealth of people in Venezuela, for clients who want to open stores in South America. We analyze data so our teams can turn it into insights for our users.

Bloomberg's Fixed Income Department is looking for a talented, enthusiastic, and innovative person who possesses a unique combination of business insight, technical skills, domain knowledge, and an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team. You will be working alongside our business and engineering teams to develop fixed income datasets and increase functionality in order to meet our client needs.

What’s the role?

As a Fixed Income Data Analyst, you will have an opportunity to discover potential improvements to our product coverage, processes and data processing applications. We will look for you to exhibit creativity in finding unique solutions to meet existing and new business initiatives. To do this, you’ll need to demonstrate your experience in user interface development and process automation alongside a strong interest in learning new programming techniques, languages, and our financial data products. With your team, you will help to build and improve work flows that will ensure that data is accurate, consistent, and delivered in a timely manner. You will interact and build relationships with rating agencies, municipal issuers, and other market participants.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Find opportunities for efficiencies and product development and see these ideas through to implementation
  • Effectively communicate research findings, project progress and success to business partners in compelling creative and accessible ways
  • Liaise with Business, Engineering, and Tech Ops to develop and deliver on projects and initiatives
  • Sourcing and qualifying relevant Fixed Income data
  • Research and understand the available solutions for data acquisition and Data processing to make proposals for improving the existing data model

At a minimum, we require that you:

  • Earned a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university prior to starting
  • Can begin working full-time in July or September 2018
  • Are legally authorized to work full-time in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship now or in the future

You also need to have:

  • 0-2 years of previous work/internship experience utilizing statistics or software development languages such as Python, VBA, R, and/or SQL
  • Proven experience working with data and a strong passion for understanding the financial markets
  • Proven experience working to enhance processes through the implementation of technology
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and advanced spreadsheet techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to construct reports and presentations
  • Commitment to enhancing and developing products
