Bloomberg runs on data and technology. In Global Data, we’re responsible for onboarding, analyzing, applying and supplying it to help answer our clients’ questions. We manage data and workflow processes on the Bloomberg Terminal to help our clients solve problems. This department is at the heart of Bloomberg. We work closely with Engineering, Sales, News, and Research & Development, as well as other Bloomberg departments. Global Data maintains and provides accurate and timely information to clients on the Bloomberg terminal, as well as helping to improve their experience of the terminal.

What’s the role?

The Chief Financial Data Officer, Multi Asset Solutions is responsible for owning multiple data products from inception to completion. You will design best-in-class processes and tools to collect and build high quality datasets in collaboration with Engineering. These are complex global projects which you will be accountable for at all levels. You will manage a large global team consisting of Data Managers, Team Leaders, and Analysts. You will drive the strategy and operations, and inspire others to deliver the very best of data solutions across a wide range of markets. While fostering a spirit of innovative thinking, you will enable the delivery of technology solutions that will underpin Bloomberg’s data strategy.

As the Chief Financial Data Officer, Multi Asset Solutions we’ll trust you to:

• Design and build solutions for the Multi Asset Solutions team to store externally sourced data within the Bloomberg Terminal, as well as detect and filter out non-relevant data
• Research and identify opportunities to generate proprietary datasets and analytics that are predictive of financial markets
• Liaise with global counterparts to develop overall vision and strategy for the Multi Asset Solutions team
• Provide leadership and work across functional areas to leverage data to its fullest extent to provide insights and data analytics to drive value across the business
• Evolve best practice in data governance and delivery approaches to ensure appropriate outcomes and to the highest quality
• Continuously review processes and internal feedback to identify opportunities to adapt new technology and/or processes to become more efficient and effective
• Work with CFOs on managing budgets and communicating return on investment for identified projects
• Collaborate with Business Managers and stakeholders to develop and prioritize yearly deliverables
• Responsible for the development, motivation, coaching, hiring and retention of employees
• Evaluate and monitor the success of the team in achieving its metrics and goals

To qualify, you will need the following:

• Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, computer science, engineering or related field
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience, with 5 years of team leader or management experience
• Technical expertise of R, Python or Matlab or other quantitative analysis tools
• Advanced knowledge of quantitative data collection and analysis techniques, statistics and database development
• Expert knowledge of Excel
• Proven staff management experience and team development skills
• Deep understanding of the financial markets
• Strong leadership presence and strategic skills required
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to motivate others
• Track record of effective agile delivery
• Expertise and excellence in data management
• Strong technical understanding of large scale datasets
• Experience creating, driving and implementing strategy
• Exceptional problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills

This position will require equal time spent in both our New York and Princeton offices.
