Bloomberg is seeking a skilled Junior Data Engineer who is at the beginning of his or her career in the professional marketplace to discover opportunities, create and implement solutions, and provide added value from vast amounts of data to gain unique insights and efficiencies for us and our clients.
We’re looking to hire a recent graduate into our FX Data Team, which sits under our Global Data umbrella, who will work in collaboration with Data Analysts and Data Scientists to synthesize meaningful, sustainable solutions for us and our clients. Our FX team is looking for trained and qualified individuals to make a difference and add on to the great wealth of knowledge we have in-house.

You will be working with a team of data professionals and subject matter experts to drive efficiencies, implement quality improvements, work with our internal and external customers, extract information and identify significant patterns in data from around the world. You will be managing data workflow, including acquisition, processing, quality control, publishing, and customer service. You will help develop predictive models to help our clients understand the impact of and correlation among data-sets. Most of all you will make a difference for our clients and have a direct impact on our business goals and strategic direction.
We will trust you to:
- Develop expertise in fast-moving FX sector information
- Help develop and implement methods of measuring and analyzing data sets and processes
- Develop and implement research ideas, prototypes, proofs of concepts, and production deployments in collaboration with our Data Scientist and Data Analysts.
- Think out of the box when devising solutions to business problems
- Become an integral part of our team and help us in accomplishing our business goals\
- Communicate the impact of your findings to collaborators across the organization, including engineers, business, and data teams
What we need to see:
- Ability to legally work in the US without visa sponsorship
- Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Computer Sciences, or Information Technology with up to 2 years of experience
- Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, R, SQL or equivalent
- Proven ability to work in teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders
We'd also love to see:
- Familiarity with statistical and machine learning methods
- Experience working with Financial Data or familiarity with fundamental economic concepts
- Experience with data modeling and using relational databases for storage and analysis
- Experience with big data analysis frameworks like Spark
- Graduate training in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or another discipline with a quantitative or computational emphasis
