The world is drowning in data. Do you have the ability to navigate through? If so, we are looking for you!

Bloomberg is seeking skilled Data Engineers who are beginning their careers in the professional marketplace to discover opportunities to create solutions and added value out of large amounts of data to gain unique insights for us and our clients.

Do you know which companies that drill for natural gas in the United States are most affected by water shortages? Or how terrorism is impacting the supply chain of major corporations around the world?

These are the type of questions we want to ask and answer.

We’re looking to hire qualified professionals into either our Economics Data Team or our Maps Data Team. Both of these teams sit under our Global Data umbrella, and work to synthesize meaningful solutions for our clients. These teams are looking for professionally experienced individuals to join their ranks and add on to the great wealth of knowledge we have in-house.

What's in it for you:

You would be working with a team of experts to extract information and identify significant patterns in data from around the world. You will develop predictive models to help our clients understand the impact of and correlation among data-sets. Most of all you will make a difference for our clients and have a direct impact on our business goals and strategic direction.

We will trust you to:

  • Collect, organize, and analyze a range of proprietary, industry standard, and publicly available datasets
  • Develop research ideas, prototypes and proofs of concept, both in collaboration with other Data Engineers and individually led projects
  • Determine and justify which quantitative techniques are most appropriate for the problems at hand
  • Communicate the impact of your findings to collaborators across the organization, including engineers, business, and data teams

What we need to see:

  • Ability to legally work in the US without visa sponsorship
  • A portfolio of completed projects demonstrating expertise in data analysis
  • 2 – 3 Years of professional experience analyzing, modeling, manipulating, and transforming data to create meaningful solutions and display significant findings
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages-Python or R would be perfect, but ability and willingness to learn is paramount
  • Familiarity with statistical and machine learning methods
  • Proven ability to work in teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders

We'd also love to see:

  • Experience working with Cartography Data or Geospatial Data
  • Experience working with Economic Data or familiarity with fundamental economic concepts
  • Experience with data modeling and using relational databases for storage and analysis
  • Experience with software engineering best practices, such as version control and testing
  • Experience with big data analysis frameworks like Spark
  • Graduate training in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or another discipline with a quantitative or computational emphasis
