West Coast Economics Editor/Reporter
San Francisco, CA
Posted Oct 14, 2021 - Requisition No. 96457
No economy is bigger than the U.S.'s and how it fares coming out of the pandemic is one of the world's most-important stories. It moves global financial markets on a regular basis. It determines the course of -- and is shaped by -- policy makers, companies and the lives of millions of Americans.
Bloomberg's U.S. Economy Team is now seeking an experienced journalist who can both edit and report stories from the West coast as we cover all aspects of the economy from the current labor shortage and strained supply lines to the great-inflation debate and what policy makers will do next.
Location can be Los Angeles or San Francisco.
The hybrid editor-reporter will help edit stories be they based on the daily flow of indicators and policymaker speeches or deeper enterprise focused on topics such as consumer spending, unemployment benefits and rising prices.
Reporting targets will include what is happening in households and companies in California and that side of the U.S. as well as economic tales from the nation's biggest ports and Silicon Valley, with an eye toward how the axis of influence in global trade is shifting to Asia's export powers.
You'll need to have:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Financial journalism experience with proven ability to shape coverage and work effectively with others to do so
- Experience of working in a breaking-news environment
