Bloomberg News is seeking a team leader for the Asia-Pacific cross-asset desk. The team consists of experienced reporters based across the regions. You will oversee a talented group covering big market stories that transcend across different types of investments. You will be expected to work with the editors and broader newsroom to offer market insights from equity indexes to foreign exchange. Due to the team's global remit, you will be expected to provide lively and timely coverage on the major developments in world markets. With significant reporting experience under your belt, you will set a standard for sensing the market outlook and filing fast, sophisticated copy to capture those themes. The team's cross-asset mandate also means you will be working with colleagues across beats, bureaus and platforms to deliver the best stories and elevate our coverage.

We'll trust you to:

  • Oversee a high-profile team whose work gets plenty of play, particularly in hectic periods when markets are moving
  • Conceive, write and edit breaking-news and longer-form stories on diverse topics spanning fixed-income, equities, credit, FX and commodities
  • Coordinate and work harmoniously as a hub for individual markets news teams as well as investing and finance to ensure big stories that often straddle different asset classes aren't being missed
  • Build influential relationships across the newsroom to ensure our coverage resonates globally and across all platforms
  • Promote diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage
  • Devise new story-telling formats for markets coverage with an emphasis on cross-platform innovation
  • Identify, groom and deploy up-and-coming talent with an emphasis on diversity and champion the ambitions of a competitive group

You'll need to have:

  • At least 5 years of recent experience in financial journalism
  • At least 5 years of experience as an editor or reporter
  • Experience leading, coaching and/or developing teams in a newsroom
  • Extensive knowledge of markets and markets coverage
  • Exceptional writing, editing and headline skills
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English
  • Experience in cross-team collaboration
  • A record of creativity and innovation
  • Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
